Catching Jordan

Catching Jordan - Miranda Kenneally I loved this little glimpse into Jordan and Henry's past. It was fun to see the others, too, especially Corndog and Jake :)

Merged review:

What was that show with Ed McMahon? Star Search? If this was that show, I'd give this book 3-3/4 stars, but I'm rounding up because of this line:
"I've never seen anyone run faster than Henry after you hurt your knee last week.”

Which, yes, I know doesn't make any sense if you haven't read the book, so maybe I should just get on with the review and tell you why I like it.

Jordan Woods is the female quarterback and captain of her high-school football team. Her brother plays ball in college, and her dad is in the NFL. She thinks about the game all the time, she watches film on the weekends, she works out--this girl lives and breathes football. She's got a couple of good friends (all guys), but when Ty, the new guy, gets there, she's instantly smitten. And you would be too, because Ty is super hot.

Over the course of this book, which is a very quick read, Jordan has to overcome the prejudices of her teammates, coaches and recruiters, and her father. Along the way, she figures out that it's okay to be a girl sometimes, and that it's easy to miss something that's been staring you in the face practically your entire life.

I like Jordan a lot, and even though she makes some choices that surprise me, including falling into bed pretty easily with Ty, I feel like she grew as a character. I like the way her relationship with her father evolves, and I think she's pretty real. There's romance and angst and comedy and lots of sports. I loved the way her team stuck up for her, and I really loved Henry. His personality and the things he says and the way he looks at her...*swoon* Ngl, Ty said some stuff that made me swoon, too.

Overall, the things I didn't love were far eclipsed by the things I did. You should check out this book, especially if you love Kody Keplinger. You won't be sorry!
